Sega Pass has been hacked. 1.3 million customers had their information compromised because they signed up to play games onlien with other people. This news comes shortly after the hacking of Sony and Nintendo sites and services.
Many companies and government agencies have been getting hacked. While the problem isn't isolated to the video game industry, there have been a lot of hacking within the industry.
Do we need to worry about more and more hacking news as we continue to play more games with live connections to systems and other players?
I think we do. Unfortunately, the reason the video game industry has a lot of hacking attacks is because hackers are young techies who like to play computer games. I don't think hackers spend a lot of time on knitting sites thinking about the weaknesses that could be exploited.
Video game sites need to get this through their heads. They will always be targets of hackers because hackers and game technology enthusiasts spend a lot of time on their sites. They need to spend an extra amount of time and money beefing up their online security.
What do you think? Will video game companies be able to stop the hacking?
